Evidence base medicine is defined as the "the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients". Using evidence base techniques continually refresh and individual's clinical expertise, with clinical evidence from statistically valid, reputable research.

Various medical bodies throughout the world are now supporting evidence-based practice, in the planning and implementation of CME and other education programs for doctors. Medical practitioners participating in this education gain skills toward current world best practice in their area of expertise.

What is the Cochrane Library?

The Cochrane Library is a database of research on the effectiveness of different health care treatments and interventions. It is widely recognised as an excellent source of health care information for consumers and health professionals alike. The Cochrane Library comprises a collection of seven internet databases of health information, updated quarterly, designed to help healthcare professionals make treatment decisions and inform patients about the care they receive.
